The "hands-on" workshops are sponsored by the National Consortium for Rural Geospatial Development (RGIS) and the UW-Madison Spatial Information and Analysis Consortium (SIAC). RGIS assists state, tribal, regional and local governments and non- and for-profit organizations in implementing advanced geospatial technologies. The goal of RGIS is to improve the quality of life, environmental health and economic competitiveness of rural communities. SIAC is a campus-wide organization of faculty, staff and students at the UW-Madison who have an interest in GIS. We provide science-based expertise in spatial information technologies to local government staff and officials, developers and related businesses, environmental and other citizen groups, consultants and many other providers of professional services. SIAC partners include: the Environmental and Remote Sensing Center, Land Information and Computer Graphics Facility, Wisconsin State Cartographer's Office, Engineering Professional Development, Applied Population Laboratory, Department of Geography, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Land Tenure Center, and Spatial Data and Acquisition Laboratory. |
