Fundamentals of Spatial Metadata Management

Course Fees: $100

Course time: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Simply defined, metadata is "data about data". In the context of GIS data, metadata is the information describing the content, quality, condition and other characteristics of the data. Documenting your GIS data holdings protects the time and financial investment in data, and makes it accessible to others. This is a "hands-on" workshop in which you will learn about spatial metadata, including development strategies, standards, software tools, documentation, best practices, and where to get more information. You will begin to develop your metadata skills by preparing documentation for a data set specific to your work.

Note:

This course is taught by our SIAC partner the State Cartographer's Office.
