Introduction to Making ArcIMS® Mapservices

Course Fee: $600

This 2-day class will be taught by Dr. Sam Batzili, Assistant Scientist, Environmental Remote Sensing Center and WisconsinView Coordinator, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Topics Covered

In this class, students will:

• Learn how to generate ArcIMS Image and Feature services from shapefiles and other geospatial data sources using ESRI’s Internet Map Server software.
• Use “Author,” “Administrator,” “Designer,” and AXL direct editing to customize the content and design of map services and websites.
• Discover tips and tricks for utilizing raster imagery.
• Build WMS compliant map services.
• Secure a map service with password protection.

Note:

This course is intended for people familiar with GIS software and data types. We will cover server setup and configuration issues only in very general terms.
