LICGF offers custom and group training. All of our courses can be scheduled for groups at either our facility or a training lab on your site. In addition to the our standard training, we can create custom classes tailored to your needs. You can select any of the following modules to create a course. We can also create modules for you. For rates on a custom course, please contact us at licgf@mailplus.wisc.edu. The following modules are readily available and can be selected to create a course. ArcGIS FunctionalityUsing ArcCatalogArcCatalog is the data management tool of ArcGIS. It allows the user to browse, copy and paste GIS related files. It is also the schema and metadata editor for ArcGIS files. This module introduces the user to ArcCatalog, its benefits and its use. Using ArcMapArcMap allows the user to create, edit and view data. It is also the tool used to create map layouts. This module introduces the user to the ArcMap interface and basic GIS concepts. Creating a Map LayoutYou have done the analysis. You have symbolized the data. Now you need to present it or distribute it. What do you do? You need to create a layout. This module will examine the tools in ArcMap to help you do just that. At the end of this module, you will be able modify a page layout and add map elements such as a North Arrow, Legend and Scale Bar. MetadataWhen was the data created? How recently has it been updated? Who created the data? Can I use the data for my project? All of these questions can be answered using Metadata. Anybody who has ever needed to use someone else's data has needed metadata to ensure the accuracy of their research. Anybody who has ever had to create metadata cringes at the thought of doing it again. ArcCatalog has tools embedded within the application to ease in the creation of metadata. This module will examine those tools and help the user onto the path of metadata creation. ArcGIS Personal GeodatabaseIntroducing/Creating a GeodatabaseSo what is a geodatabase and why should I use one anyway? Part 1 of this module introduces the user to the geodatabase and its components through a lecture. Part 2 of this module walks the user through creating the components of the geodatabase. Editing a GeodatabaseThis module examines how to edit feature geometry in a geodatabase using sketches. It also examines how to utilize subtypes and domains in attribute editing. Geodatabase TopologyThis two part module examines Topology. Part 1 introduces the user to topology by creating a geodatabase containing a topology and setting up topology rules. Part 2 walks through error validation and correction. Geodatabase PotpourriThis module is a brief catch-all lecture for topics that geodatabase users should be aware. Covered are tips and tricks, Versioning and Data models. MiscellaneousThe following modules are in development: ArcToolboxCreating and Editing ShapefilesLabels and AnnotationLayersTips and Tricks
