Introduction to 3D Visualization of GIS Data Using ArcView

This 1-day course uses ESRI's ArcView Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst to enhance visualization and spatial analysis. This class will include lectures, handouts and hands-on exercises for both 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst.

Topics covered

  • Hardware requirements
  • Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Triangulated Irregular Networks (TINs)
  • 2 1/2 D visualization (shaded relief, viewshed, slope, aspect, etc.)
  • Extruding 2D features using attributes to create 3D features
  • Draping imagery
  • Animated "fly" through's

Note:

Familiarity with ArcView is assumed.
