Growth Management Factors

What are growth management factors? As we use the term, these are physical and cultural features on the land that modify, limit or restrict development. They include features that preclude development, as well as those that require mitigating measures before development. For example, an existing park cannot be developed whereas steeply sloped land could be developed with proper aesthetic and erosion-control measures.  Potential Uses:
  • identify existing land use patterns
  • evaluate potential environmental threats
  • establish priorities for land purchase or protection
  • guide future growth patterns
