navigating within and between steps |

Each step of the planning process has its own site with a navigation bar linking to the preceding and following planning steps. Some complex steps may be organized into smaller sub-steps. In the example below, Step 3 has three sub-steps; the current location is sub-step "resources." To access the other sub-steps, simply select the desired link on the navigation bar.
Any time that you want to return to the home page of a step, select the "home" link on the bottom of the navigation bar. You can also move to the next step, or to another element within the same step, by using the links at the bottom of the page. Would you like
to move to agriculture planning Step 4: analyze
trends?
Each step is organized by a series of frequently-asked questions. Following the question, there may be a link to information that will help answer the question. In some cases, the question is intended to spark a group discussion among people familiar with the community. In this case, you will see the term "group task." Each question appears in a box with a heading. These headings are like notecard titles, providing a clue to the category of information that follows. For example, "Background: Local" provides information specific to the local community while "Background: General" is not site specific. The GIS Support categories focus on techniques for applying Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to planning tasks. "GIS Support: Explore" tools inventory current conditions and communicate this information. "GIS Support: Analyze" tools model the real world to explore cause and affect relationships. " GIS Support: Allocate" tools help prioritize among limited resources. Finally, "GIS Support: Evaluate" tools explore the impacts from various planning proposals. |
